Bikini Time | Part 1

We all love it: THE BIKINI.
In the next few weeks I want to share with you everything about bikinis and swimsuits. Today I'm going to tell you something about the history of the bikini.

Today it's normal to see a women wearing a bikini or a swimsuit. But 100 years ago it was unimaginable. For example the Australian swimmer-performer Annette Kellerman was arrested in 1907 for wearing a two-piece.

The name bikini was given by his inventer Louis Réard in 1947. He named it after Bikini Atoll in the Pacific, the site of an atomic bomb test. The idea of a bikini struck him when he saw women rolling up their beachwear to get a better tan.  But Réard could not find a model to wear his design so he ended up hiring a nude dancer. That bikini was a cloth with newspaper type print. The bikini was a moderate hit 1947 in France, but it was not well accepted in other parts of the world.

The bikini family has grown to a large number of variations:
String Bikini
Monokini
Numokini (top part missing)
Seekini (transparent bikini)
Tankini (tank top, bikini bottom)
Camikini (camisole top, bikini bottom)

Next week :  Bikini Time | Part 2 Choose the right suit for you!

I mentioned some bikini variations. In which category falls your suit?

Have a nice day! Kiss Catherine

Nail Polish of The Week | Peach Pie

Hi Everyone! So this week I went for a nude color. I choosed the Maybelline New York Color Show - 31 Peach Pie.

I really like this color because it's a nearly white but with a rose/grey undertone. When you look at your nails, it seems like you haven't got a color on it. But if you look a bit closer you can see the color. I hope you understand whar I'm trying to say :)

The only thing I don't really like about this nail polish is that I have to paint my nails 2-3 times to get this color like in the picture.
But altogheter I like this nail polish and I'm looking forward to buy other colors.

Do you own any Nail Polishes from Maybelline? If so what color do you recommend?

Monthly Favourites | May

Hi, Everyone! I have a little selection of gems that I've been using this month and that I'd like to share with you all...

Catrice - Long Lasting Eye Liner Pen
This product from Catrice accompained me through this whole month. I usally use a black kajal or eye liner. But I wanted to try something different so I bought this in the color 060 - Midnight Blue. It's a really nice color and I'm happy with it. It's not too dark and it has little sparkles in it. Plus I can wear it a whole day and it doesn't smudge.

Manhatten - Soft Compact Powder Natural Look
I bought acutally a while ago when I wanted a new skinfinish. First I thought the colour (Teint Chocolat  - 9 ) is a bit darker but it's actually the right colour. Unfortunatly I can't remember the price but I know it wasn't expensive.

Estée Lauder - Pure Colour EyeShadow
This was a present from a close friend to my birthday. The little Eye Shadow Palette was in a kit. Unfortunatly I don't remeber the name of it. It has 5 different colours. 2 Satin, 1 Shimmer and 2 Matte colours. I like to use this when I go to school because all of this colours are really pretty and they don't look "too much". I always have this in my makeup bag.

Maybelline New York - ColorSensational Cream Closs
This is a product that I've been using for a while. The color is 360 - Stellar Berry.
It's a really nice color with little sparkles in it. It smells like Berry (I think) and I LOVE berries.
It's not this dark like you see in the picture. When you put it on your lips it's a red with a browny undertone. I'm going to buy another one the 015 - Born with it.

Lancôme  Trésor - IN LOVE
This is the fragrance that I've been using for years now. I absolutly love the smell of it but I really can't describe what it smells like ( weird I know).
I recommend you to go to a perfumery and try it there. :)

VICHY LABORATOIRES - Normaderm
This is a Try-Active Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care.
I'm using this product since about 2 years. I went to a pharmacy and because I wanted something against Acne. They recommended this facial cream. And it really helped!
I put it on my face in the morning and leave it there. Another positiv thing is that also hydrated your skin. I recommend this to everyone who suffers from acne or other skin imperfections.

So there we have it, the products I've been loving. What have you been loving recently?

Nail Polish of the Week | Prussian Blue

Hi, Everyone!

So this week's nail polish is a bit a darker one. I used the MaXFactor Mini Nail Polish - 37 Prussian Blue.  It's not a typical spring/summer nail polish but I love it anyway.
The positive side of this nail polish is that it dries very fast. I'm really impatient when it comes to wait that a nail polish dries.
I'm looking forward to use a bit a brighter nail polish next week :)
